Core objective:
Regulate the blood lipid profile and prevent atherosclerosis
Intervention by classification
High triglyceride (TG): Strictly control blood sugar (free sugars < 25g per day), and increase the intake of Omega-3 (2g of fish oil per day).
High low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C): Consume 2g of plant sterols per day (fortified foods), and soluble fiber ≥ 10g (such as oats and chicory).
Optimization of fats
Saturated fats: Less than 7% of the total calories (reduce the intake of fatty meat and palm oil).
Trans fats: Completely avoid them (such as non-dairy creamer and cocoa butter substitutes).
Monounsaturated fats: Replace part of the calorie from staple foods with olive oil and avocado.
Supplementation of functional nutrients
Red yeast rice (containing natural statins): It requires the guidance of a doctor to avoid overlapping with lipid-lowering drugs.
Nattokinase (2000FU per day): It can assist in improving blood viscosity.
